A Literature Review on Online Gambling

Online Gambling is an industry that is rapidly growing worldwide. Millions of people are now playing casino games and betting on sports events through their computers or mobile phones. The convenience of this kind of gambling is appealing to many people because they do not need to travel long distances to play or attend a live event. They can even access it at any time of the day. This is a huge advantage to those who are working or have a busy schedule and do not have enough time to go to casinos or other gambling establishments.

There are several concerns that have been raised about online gambling such as the security of the transactions, the integrity of the random number generator (RNG), and whether it is legal or not. It is also a risky activity because it can lead to addiction and other problems. If you are worried about gambling online, you can contact GamCare for help.

This review was conducted to systematically investigate knowledge about risk and protective factors in the online gambling population. The literature search was limited to peer-reviewed articles published in English between 2010 and 2020. Two critical elements that emerged from the analysis of these papers are discussed: (a) the sample used in the studies was nonrepresentative, and (b) most were cross-sectional, which limits the interpretation of the findings.

The growth of online gaming is also due to the fact that more young people are getting addicted to it. This is because there are more games that have gambling elements such as skin betting which has been incorporated in some popular games like Fortnite and PUBG.
